LEAD Project

Although the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends exome or genome sequencing as first-tier testing for children with global developmental delay (GDD) or intellectual disability (ID), primary care adoption remains limited.

The LEAD (Leveraging Early genomics for Assessment of Developmental delay) initiative provides a five-stage, evidence-based pathway from a national white paper to a CME-accredited national implementation program to align pediatric practice with AAP genomic testing standards and improve early diagnosis of autism and related disorders.

BioLogic has developed a playbook that helps pediatric practices implement guideline-aligned genomic testing for children with developmental delay, autism, epilepsy, and other suspected genetic disorders.

The goal is to shorten the diagnostic journey, improve clinical management, and ensure equitable access to genetic services. The framework integrates genomic testing into routine pediatric visits and existing EHR workflows.
